History Of Microsoft Axapta

Axapta was a highly respected accounting system and ERP solution which was originally brought to the United States from Europe by IBM in 1996. Axapta was first created in 1983 by brothers Erik and Preben Damgaard in Copenhagen, Denmark. Written completely in Java, Axapta was designed to be a complete ERP solution which included advanced distribution, process and discrete manufacturing, built-in CRM capabilities, and within an integrated development environment. In 2000, Axapta (Damgaard Software) merged with their long-time Danish rival Navision Software.

In 2002 Microsoft acquired Navision Axapta and Navision Attain for $1.4 billion – the largest acquisition ever made by Microsoft. Microsoft Dynamics AX (formerly Microsoft Business Solutions Axapta) has gained momentum, marketshare and credibility under the Microsoft Dynamics leadership.

Microsoft is committed to delivering People Ready experiences to mid-size and enterprise organizations in support of business scenarios such as customer relationships, operational excellence, product and services development, and supply chain management.
